I have an appointment tomorrow in hospital being the scatter brain I am i forgot to ring and confirm i will be attending the appointment it kind of important it is to rule out possible cancer so if you work in a hospital can you tell me if you dont ring to confirm do you lose your appointment.

First things first . I just want to say hi to everyone since this is my first post. Basically I tried to get a quote on a bike to see what I might have to pay.

Basically they said they wouldn't quote me at all since im under 21. So I asked would having done an assessment during my IBT and got a grade 4 with Quinn not make any difference and he said no none at all. Am I looking at completely wrong bikes or something here? I will call Aon tomorrow just to see if they will quote me(their online yoke wouldn't).

I am organising a raffle in my local community to help raise funds for DSI. I am holding it upstairs in The White Horse Pub in the West End, Ballincollig (next door to Quishs Supervalu). Starting at 19:30 on Saturday 24th March 2012, ending - well whenever people want to head away . All are more then welcome and feel free to bring a few friends. I have booked a room for it and we have our own bar to ourselves. I will be organising finger food nearer the day - when I find out numbers more accurately.

This is a repeat of last year.

Meet up at Texaco Swords (Opposite Airside) around 7:30 am Saturday 11th Feb. Leave around 8 am and head up.

Stop for brekkie and defrost at Carrickdale Hotel and then head on up. We should arrive around of just after opening time.

Time and weather permitting we may take a scenic route back via Lurgan, Tandragee and Newry.

Well last friday I retook my test and flew it with only two little black marks against me, one for dabbing the toe during the U turn. It's a fair cop Gov!

I bought the old beemer with the intention of doing a light overhaul and resto on it but I couldn't start till I got the test outa the way and now that I have I should get on with it.

The missus'n'offspring are going to be away next week for a few days of the midterm break so the dilemma is:

Option i) Stay at home and start stripping the bike in preparation for the summer or...

Option ii) Go for a bit of a skite on it for a couple of days. (Funds are tight so I wount be jumping on any Ferry's or the like) but where to go?

Decided to commute in this morning the CB250 that's been sitting in the garage of late

Now the gearchanger is a fcuker..when we picked it up in Nov I could barely get my foot under it to change gears so I got it up into 5th and just left it there the whole way home from Mountmellick...

Got home and moved gear changer up a bit on spindle to create room for a foot under it..

Hasn't been used since until this morning...
Alas it's a b!tch..still very difficult to get a foot under it..move it any higher it will hit engine casing I reckon.. (although I'll be looking at that this eve )

teh previous owner did mention that this was a factor with CB250s......

Any ideas for a replacement or a 'fix' ??

We are organizing a Brekkie run on 26th Feb. Basically everyone turns up for brekkie at our house at 9.30 a.m., give a donation to the Rev up fund and then we head out on a spin.

Oakers will be coming up with a nice route for the spin and will post details on it shortly.

so the lights on my 99 gsxr 600 srad have stopped working today, all the other electrics seem fine, indicators and dash lights are fine.
when i hit the "flash" button, both bulbs work so its not them, they were working fine earlier in the day, then stopped working, then came back on again!!!
now they're off altogether only a little bulb in the centre comes on.
sorry for the lack of a detailed explanation as im not the most knowledgable on bike mechanics / electrics.

any suggestions?

Hi everyone,

I fired up the engine on the VFR the other day and I noticed that one of the downpipes was running a good bit cooler than the rest. I have taken the rad off of this bike before and drained and refilled the coolant system and the mounts for the rad are all in proper order. However the fan housing seems to lean on and cut into the spark plug cap of the cylinder 2 (front right cylinder).

Yesterday while the engine was running I noticed that there was a constant and fast flickering yellow spark in the rip that the housing had made in that plug cap. I suppose the electrical charge wasn't going to the plug and thus the cool running of THAT downpipe. I turned the engine off anyway and need to rectify this. I can replace the HT lead and/or plug cap but either way it could happen again if the fan mount is going to lean on it.

Any opinions? The attached picture might help show you all what is going on.

got me crash bars & Bar ends back from being powdercoated today very pleased with results and cheap as chips too
managed to get a cross headed bolt to replace broken bolt will be getting Aux lights fitted at weekend and even managed to move satnav to handle bars as was damaging dash with weight/vibration of cradle so am one very pleased numpty today

Was looking into what is the 'best' way of lowering a motorcycle. I stumbled on below site that replaces the link arm to lower the rear and to keep geometry setup lower the front forks.

NOW, this is something a specialist shop should do I think to keep the same geo setup for the bike, who would be able to do such a job and guarantee that it's not messing up the geo? (and cost to do such a thing)

I'm guessing you can also get a "coilover" rear suspension to be able to play with ride height? I'm thinking that using a 'dogbone' as they call in on that site will make the suspension a bit stiffer and you need to adjust the damper accordingly. Or is it more to it and this is a no go?

Since I came back to China from Ireland last Oct. I was not working for nearly 4 months. still dont get used to here. things had changed so quickly. sometimes I really DO feel i like irish more than my native.

Got a job in Dongguan of Guangdong, China, clost to shenzhen and hong kong. 4 hours fly away from home. 13 hours fly away from 2nd home Irealnd. ha.

Miss Ireland so much, still listen KFM and FM104 online sometimes, ha. Ireland is in my blood now I guess. will go back to visit another day if I can make some serious money here, ha.

haven't touch any bike in the past few months as well. almost everywhere here banned the bikes. so I have no choice. but good thing is I passed the artic truck and coach tests too here. so with Irish and Chinese driving licence, right or left, at any country, anywhere, anyside, i can drive the big yoks now.

Hi all,

Down Syndrome Ireland, Cork Branch are moving premises this weekend and as such are looking for able bodied volunteers to give them a hand to load/unload a van.

The branch do fantastic work on the ground (as do our 25 branches) for our members on very limited funds so bringing in volunteers obviously allows them to stretch that little bit further.

Work kicks off at 10am with the move being from Centre Park Road to Kilnap Business Park, Blackpool.

If you can spare a few hours it would be much appreciated.

Just looking for some Suggestions about transporting a Bike to Mondello

Here is the story so Far

Did a couple of track days on the SV650
Loved it, but it's not really a track bike. And I could write it off on a Track as I'm still learning.
The bike is in good condition so I don't really want to rag it on a track

So I bought Pat Bradley's old R6

The Oul lad had a tow bar on his old car, so the Idea was just to buy a trailer for a couple of hundred euro and off I go.

However
My Dad has gone a traded up, the new Car doesn't have a tow bar and getting 1 fitted is going to cost €480 + Labour (€550 I'd say)

So that plus the Trailer would be near €1000

So I was thinking, I should probably just buy an Old Van.
This would be better as I could store the bike in the Van as opposed to having to drag the Bike through my mothers "Brand New Kitchen" every time I wanted to go to a track day.

So I was thinking along the lines of a Renault Trafic 200[2/3] However the insurance is Chicken Oriental... €1187 premium for a Van worth about €1K

Any suggestions on who to go to for Van insurance etc
What would you do in this situation.

I haven't had my own car in a couple of years now, before that I had 4 years NCB and since then I have been a named driver on my partner's, mothers and fathers car's

Morning all,

I just thought I'd share the conversation I had with Sandra from the RSA this morning.

I was originally told I would have a test scheduled for February.
When I hadn't heard anything I called this morning to see what the hold up was.

Sandra in the RSA informed me that Motorcycle testing is not a priority.
Given my location (Mullingar) they would have to contract someone in to conduct the test.
I was told that she would be in touch in the next 6-8 weeks!!!
I enquired about being tested at another test centre as I was planning to travel abroad and needed my licence.
Again I was told that motorcyclists were not a priority and I "might" be able to have the test location moved, but to give it a few weeks!!!!

Rant over, but I needed to get that off my chest.
