So maybe, if some of us have this knowledge, we could regroup it in this topic.
This way, anyone willing to do a test ride would be able to prepare himself/herself before asking for it.
Bikeworld, Long Mile Road, Dublin:
- need Full Unrestricted European licence
- Bring a copy of your Insurance Cert with you. While you are there with them in the shop prior to the test ride, they will transfer your insurance cover onto their bike for the duration of the test ride. This is done by phone call from them to your insurance co. In my case they offered times of test ride during normal office hours or Sat mornings to allow for this to take place.
- 1000€ either in cash or credit card. (given back after test ride)
Killeen Motorcycles
Full license - restricted is OK
Bring a copy of insurance cert or original and Paul will make a copy.
RR Motorcycles
- Full License,
- Insurance must be able to ride bikes not belonging to rider, & a wavier is signed in shop,.
BMW - Joe Duffy's, Finglas
- Bring insurance cert & full license along.
(Kev: They wanted my Credit Card to clear €5000 deposit or a draft for the price of the bike before they would allow me near it.)
BMW - Maddocks, Bray, Co Wicklow.
- Full license and insurance.
- They'll transfer the bike to your policy for the duration.
Maddocks Co Wicklow
- Full licence
- Insurance. They'll transfer the bike to your policy for the duration.
Motopoint
- Full License
- Fully Comp Insurance
Kearys BMW Motorrad in Cork
- Full License
- No mention of insurance
(A full licence seemed to be all that was required, although to be fair, I bought my first bike off Mark in his previous establishment..)
Harley davidson Waterford
- Full License
- No mention of insurance
NOTE
from johnnynobikes - Bikeworld wouldnt let me take a test ride because my (comp) insurance is with Adelaide who wont permit temporary transfers !
from golly - CN don't do temporary transfers unless it is to an identical bike, which is pretty damn useless cos it ani't never gonna happen.
