This sub-form is for all legal matters but most importantly legal matters that pertain to Biking. This includes Rules Of The Road (ROTR), Tax, Insurance, specific road traffic legislation and dealings with the various bodies Gardai, PSNI, Insurance company's and tax authorities.

Given the reasonably serious subject matter we would ask that you avoid off-topic responses. If a thread is inappropriate it will be moved to the most appropriate forum.

People may have experience in specific areas but their experience can quickly become obsolete due to changes in legislation or common practice by the various bodies. It should also be noted that the law is not always applied evenly or consistently. For example, most Gardai will not issue a ticket for Bikers using bus lanes but that does not change the fact that, currently, it is illegal for bikes to use bus lanes during the operating hours of the bus lane.

However, this is why it is important to contribute your experiences. It is only through peoples experience that we can gauge current practice. For example, if three or four people post that they have been done for using a bus lane, it could mean a new crackdown. Or maybe you got a first time insurance quote from Carole Nash, who don't normally quote first timers. All good info!
