Great idea Zou.

Alot of bikes do go missing in ireland every year and the gardai do try their best to recover the stolen bike as we all saw with Suze's bike recovery recently. Why dont the gardai have the equipment that the police in england have...such as a tracker/datatag identification equipment. This would make recovery of stolen vehicles very quick and the bikes can be tracked to a specific location but I think this is a service run by tracker for the UK only. (are my company names correct there?)

Would be nice to have it here in Ireland. Its a simple device fitted to your bike that remains off all the time. Once your bike is stolen and you report it the company "tracker?" they then activate the device and it gives out a signal 24/7 that can be tracked by the police...speeding up recovery of your vehicle.

I suppose until such time this idea Zou is our best bet!

The gardai do have Datatag scanners They were given to them a few years ago. Last time I heard ...the scanners were in a cabinet in the stolen car units office in Harcourt square !

Just a thought - it might be no harm to put a single mailing-list together for all those addresses ... something like stolenbikes@ibf ?

Not sure if it'd work, but it'd save listing each individual's email addresses ...
