Batteries! The budget biker option!

As a rule bikeshops tend to charge a sore price for batteries and as someone that also does some "car trade" work I can I always find it hard to understand how bike batteries are so much dearer than car batteries.
So I hatched an obvious plan!
Asked my local car parts shop to order me a YB14LA2 battery....
"You won't have it in stock" I tell them!
It arrived last week, less than a week after ordering it...
Cost.... €40!
Result I'd say!

Not trading in a set location in Dublin anymore. Trading through a Rep.
Rep's name is Godfrey, very nice guy to deal with, very good prices on Yuasa batteries. 086 3841358.
Next day service if he hasnt got it in stock, as long as you call before lunchtime.
I've called 3 bike shops looking for a battery today, average markup between €15-€25 on his prices. Same battery also retails online at €95.

Was he involved in some sort of explosion, a built up stock of old batteries, stacked up in the corner of the warehouse, Godfrey promising and promising that one day, he would get rid of them in an enviorenmentally safe manner but actually just not getting around to it.
The batteries, all stacked up on top of each other, like abandoned kittens in a coal shed, huddling together, creating heat from the core, eventually spreading until oneday, they reach maximum temperature. On this infamous day, Godfrey opens the garage door, exposing the batteries to a sudden temperature drop!
The Batteries all explode! The explosion ripping a hole in the Time space continuim, propelling all in its path, including Godfrey, into the Future. A future that is strange and new to Godfrey, but one that still uses Batteries, hence him getting a job in Batterey sales and related products.
This is the only way a man, in the 21st century, could have the name Godfrey.
Either that or his parents have a great sense of humour/did not like him.

Karma man, Karma.
Got in touch with Matt from "the other side" today and picked up a Yuasa battery off him in Blanch. Same price really, give or take a few euro, only question is if you want to go to the city or Blanch.
Matt is on 087 9324090 and is sound to deal with.
To put it into prespective, I got 4 quotes for the same batteries around dublin, and the prices were from 15-50 euro markup on their prices. WiIl be dealing with either Matt or Godfrey from now on.

Good technical info on that site if you follow the links . It gives all the battery outputs /cranking capacities. The same size battery for example on some middleweight honda applications can vary from 120 cca's to 190 cca's not always easily identifiable from the part number. Could explain a few starting problems ...............
