This may seems like a very general question. Dont really know much about bike engines and am wondering what is considered high mileage on a bike. Are they comparable to a car or over the hill at 10,000?

50,000 k/m on my 99 cbr strong as an ox

similar on my gixXxer - engine wise not a bother. So long as its maintained / oil / anti-freeze, and regular adjustments (as per major service schedules) shouldnt be a problem.

4 months with the bike and I already have 5700 miles.

milage is relitive
a bike might have 30k on it
another may have 40k
but the one with 30k may be a city bike
and have 500 hours up most of it in idle

don't be worried about milage 06 bandit6 with 70000,still perfect,stick to you're service schedule and you'll be grand. heard a roumer of a courier in london who clocked his bandit

thats about 5 weeks riding if last week is anything to go by over 2,000 kms done and there was only one mad spin. first year on the bandit i done 32,000kms and i do belive i'm a head off that this year almost at 46,000km and i did not have the bike for 6 weeks. once its looked after you'll be grand. serviced when it due and all that

126,000 miles on a 94 K75RT and still pullin like a train.

It's all relative so don't get hung-up on mileage

i've seen a honda cg125 with near a 100k miles on the original engine so if its looked after its nothing to worry about

I did 30 000 km last year on my VFR
Clocks shows currently 130 000 km.

40,000 miles on my V-Strom & 54.74mpg. Treat any engine properly and you'll see years of service from it. Treat it like crap and you'll get crap service. Simple really.

i sold my 954 (2003) with 26k mls on it. Small amount but still as tight and sweet as the day it cmae from the crate.

There is a lot to be said for changing oil regular, maintaining an engine and knowing how not to thrash it.

10k is nothing at any age. 100k is bit high for me no matter what age i wont touch it.

Depends how the bikes been treated, if it has a genuine full service history and hasant been owned by a wheelie merchant or a wannabe racer should be good for 100,000 miles no prob, especially the larger capacity and lower revving stuff..Goldwings etc

I know of at least one Deauville which has gone more than three times 'round the clock - currently reads 48,000 or so (if memory serves), one owner from new (Courier in the South of England) ...

Not a "Triggers Brush" either - barring regular servicing and usual consumables (and some fairing panels - given the job it does !) - it's all original

And yes - I'd seriously consider buying it if it was up for grabs (though it'd want to be cheap to cover work on plastics!)

Back in the early 80's I racked up 26K in three years on a Honda 70 with nothing other then regular oil changes and the thing was running grand till it was half inched one afternoon
