Ok I remember a thread kickin around about a year ago..But im sure people have gotten more pets since then!!! I LOVE animals..Nuts about them.. Unfortunatly I can't have any in my house in Dublin so My little dog Patches is left in Sligo... A feck load of animal pics would cheer me up!!

Pic of Patches in her duvet (Mum not impressed with dog getting duvet...) And a pic of a horse i used to take care of when i worked with horses... His name was Sunny and he loved life and didnt really want to be a racehorse....

There were two of them abandoned in a house and they were rescued by the dog warden. They both were badly underweight and had pressure sores. He has regained 8kg since he was taken in by the dogs trust people and is still 5kg underweight. I really don't understand how someone can treat a dog like that.

Given his history I'm surprised at how quickly he has settled in. He really is a lovely dog.

That's a very big doggie to have separation anxiety.

I have to completely ignore my bloke for 30 minutes after I get into the house to stop him jumping on me.

Does anyone know where I can get pigs ears?

My local petstop has been out of them for two weeks and none of the other local pet stores stock them.

You can buy them in bulk online Eamon (ebay). Zoo plus also sell them and are good to deal with. Linky

I stopped feeding them as I was told there are an awful lot of chemicals in them and as my lot all get a raw diet, I thought it best to avoid them. Watch out for rawhide chews as well. These big lads can eat them without chewing them up and they've been known to cause blockages requiring surgery. Do you get him knuckle bones from the butcher? They're great fed raw as they don't splinter and keep them happy for hours. They also keep their teeth in good order.

Paddy is looking great. He's obviously settled in very well!

I'll badger the butcher for bones. He had nothing last time I asked and I've not tried again. Petstop have bones but they are all cooked so I avoid them. They also have beef ears, some of which are bleached. The bleached one will definitely be stuffed with chemicals.

Paddy's doing well. He's up to 60kg and only has another one or two to go. His ribs and spike are still a little obvious.

I found out why my local butcher never has any bones. They have three shops and prepare their meat at a central location. I'll have to find a wee craft butcher.

Correction... compared to a Gt Dane he's ..... stockier!

Danes are very tall but they don't have anything like the build your fella has. They're meant to be quite athletic, somewhere between a greyhound and a mastiff. The biches are also a good deal lighter and smaller than the dogs too.
