Okay, Ken(Renegades) is Kindly letting me do a Build/Project on a Bike, or as he likes to call it, the \"Donkey work\" on load of stuff he has in the Garage.

Its gonna be a Streetfighter, and it will contain the Following Parts

Frame, 1989 GSXr750K aquired from Zx10Rick




Frame is in great nick, needs a clean and we think it may be powdercoated Black.

Petrol Tank, 1992 GSXR750m, German Model tank


Engine, 1997 Bandit 1200 lump, Ken was told that it ran, that was about a month before he bought it, many moons ago.

Engine will have a chromed/polished Rocker cover, and casings. Ken mad a start at cleaning it up, i will continue. Once we get all the crap off and clean, it will be getting a coating of Pj1 black paint. Nice!

Fork legs, 1994 GSXR1100 watercooled, Usa model forks.

If these legs are being used, Ken has a few little tricks up his sleeve, but we may use other legs. Not finalised yet.

Front calipers, 2004 Hayabusa Tokico 6 pots


Front axle and speedo drive from a 1992 GSXR750m. Previous owner of the Bandit Lump had a digital/magnetic speedo type assembly that was attached to the front sprocket.

Back wheel, 1997 Bandit 1200



So, to start. I applied a little parrafin to the engine, and set it on fire. No, i started to clean it down a bit, we started by taking off the front sprocket, but to do that first we had to take out the bolt the previous owner attachd a magnet to for the speedo




Then i took of the alternator, anything coming off is getting cleaned up or replaced, but most things are in pretty good nick to be honest.



Looks like an angry robot to me.


We think we have a seat unit for it, The Swingarm will be a braced and polished jmc item(we have a choice of two).


So, thats the start. I will try to get a few nights to attack it every week, Ken will scoure the bay or his workshop for parts or bling for the machine. Hopefully it won\'t take too long, i'm thinking sometime in 2011 but that might be optomistic

No, if we get are heads down, and i get my finger out we will have it done in a reasonable timeline. So, any other project people out there, "The Race is On! "

No Problem Wesi,,it's better than slave labour to me the frame as you say is a GSXR 750 item it's a K model from a 1989 bike that came from ZX10Ricks workshop,,,someone passed the comment last nite that it'll probally be the 1st bike to make it outa Ricks workshop thats in 1 piece and running,,thats below the belt lads i think Rick will prove ye wrong very soon

update for you Wesi,,race seat unit sourced through one of the lads over on oldskoolsuzuki,,from a GSXR1100M,,will need some modification for tail lights,so a little more work for you

Think i have that sorted on the shock,,3 ohlins here,thinking GSXR1000 should work,,,you want to get around more often or i'll have it finished while hanging around,,think there's mention of Zx10Rick dropping in to see how his frame is doing

Was really hoping to get up tomorrow, then a load of work comes in the door, but i aint complaining bout that, get home then tonight to find the missus in tears, shaking with some sort of major headache, took her to the local hospital where she was told to go to the main hospital in the city, of course she refused and insisted on going home, so Im now doing the Florence NightinGale up and down the stairs with the cold towels that im placing on her head hoping that the meds they gave her will do the trick and then we will see if she has to go up tomorrow. Aint complaining bout that either long as shes all right.

So i doubt il be up tomorrow....

PMSL at some of the above statements Rick,,,Hanny is on his own on this one It could be a slow process,but really depends on how fast Wesi is with the camera,,a lot of the bits were knocking about here but some i have been stockpiling for the Bandit 12 but i think that can wait a while as im not getting much biking in and i'm getting bored not tinkering around in the garage.it was a toss up between the panel damaged fireblade or the GSXR but some had been hinting that the frame previously belonged to you and to try convert Wesi over from the Honda's,,,im BORED and what do's Wesi do only go off prancing around Slane tomorrow while i sit idle

Ah sure youngfellas these days, tis hard to keep them in check, id be well up for helping ye out on this but the jet is in the hanger awaiting parts and the helicopter was crashed on the way home last weekend whilst under the influence

More's the pity as i was looking forward to a spin in the helicopter ,Thats terrible about MrsRick,,you want to make sure herself is getting well looked after and better safe than sorry if it means going into the city to the hospital,,see how things pan out for you over the weekend and if you dont make it up the way it's no bother,,i'll hold an auction for your downpipes when they arrive

your too kind.. seem to have eased a bit now for her at the very least. What kind of front discc will you be using now if your putting on the 3pot hayabusas or will the originals off the front wheel still fit no bothers?

the original discs will work on it,thats the beauty of the oil cooled Gsxr range a lot of parts are interchangeable,,,the hayabusa calipers have the same spacing as the GSXR,,think the ZX9 calipers also work on them,,have a bandit 12 front wheel but the bandit discs wont work with the GSXR forks and the Hayabusa calipers as the dish on the disc carrier is Different than the GSXR ones,,but both bandit and GSXR discs use the same mounting holes on the wheels so discs are interchangable for this purpose,,,bandit discs can be used but the calipers need spacer plates made to sit correct on calipers and thats a lot of work when you can just interchange the discs,,which leaves me looking around for a set of GSXR discs,,,theres a load of more usless information for you

remember the 1100 forks are a lot longer the the 750 ones (and early R1 forks fit the suzuki USD yokes )
