I had the guards at me door before telling me they chased me all around ashbourne, I was nowhere near it at the time, but it was another blackbird with my reg plate. I suppose if they want to twin a plate no point in making it easier. Also , although Im not sure how, people reckon they can find your address from your reg plate, ( maybe through the help of a friend in an insurance company or whatever) so if someone was after a specific bike they could track it down.
Dont really know but I think thats the idea behind it.

Yep it's to do with cloning vehicles. I know of a show room that advertised a car with a pic, reg plate shown. a month later the police came to visit saying the carn though had been involved in a robbery even though it hadn't been moved from arrival. The owner had to trawl through the cctv to prove it hadn't been out of the showroom at the time of the robbery. The only time I would suggest different is if selling the bike when you can delete the most of the number but leave in the year prefix.

Yea, I always blank out my reg. Also, I had a situation, not too long ago, where someone tried to claim off me (on the back of a reg and some minor details you could have got of facebook or whatever) for an incident that didnt happen - I wasnt even in the county on the supposed date. It was all smoke without fire in the end but it just taught me you can never be too safe and scammers are out there...

Really?? Thats mad!! I had never heard of that before - kinda frightening cos it's then up to you to prove it didnt happen!

Exactly! And I had to do my own investigation and disprove their case! Was the craziest and stupidest situation I've ever been in...
