Stolen bikes Take test rider's pic first

just readin about all the stolen bikes, in particular , people test riding bikes and not coming back

, almost everyone has a camera phone, why not ask the tester can u take his pic, before the test ride. if they object u know why. simple

Strictly speaking, its a good idea. But a large deposit up-front and hanging on to their drivers license is better.

Too many people driving on false license's...I just tell them, no test ride without full value of bike handed over, you don't like it you gets the money back.

Have to agree here, not entirely sure I'd like to buy a bike without having had a spin on it- but if I'm going looking at a few bikes, there's no way I'm going to have a few grand just sitting around in my póca on the off-chance I want to to the deal on one then and there ...

How come it's not a problem when selling a car privately ... I've often let folk grab a solo test-drive when selling a car, never had a problem!

I do like the photo / drivers-licence / keys ideas though, even though folk tend to trade up, so the keys are probably worth less than whatever you're selling ...

Besides, you don't just hand over the keys to your machine without having talked to the prospective buyer first, and got a feel for their position ... genuine buyers are usually easy enough to spot IMLE

Sure if u want the bike u have to bring cash anyway. people can look at the bike and return with cash if they are serious and get test ride then.↲@Proinnsias, why would you ever let someone test drive a car solo? Not on your nelly. Always accompanied test drivers. ↲↲EDIT: Doesn't matter how genuine the buyer seems, if he drops or damages your bike in a test ride your fcuked, u'll never get the value of it.
