Dunno how I stumbled across this but it was only yesterday (some would say I should be worried about a mind like that!).
This might be a useful page for our mental toolboxes. It's full of various biking product reviews in PDF format from Ride Magazine. You click on the link and it'll pop up on screen much like the magazine itself (or so I would imagine, I have never actually bought an issue but I will next month when I have time to read stuff that is not thesis related...although I do still read here, hmmm...
I've had a flick through them and the tests are extensive to say the least and while some may be out of date they do give you a good idea of what to look for when you go to do a bit of shopping yourself. I never realised the importance of a storm flap over zips until my zip leaked one day for example - from experience you learn. However you can speed up the process a lot by doing your research and this will help you no end!
