Well, then it has to be the CR500, although I wasn't aware you can run them in road trim(and it may cause serious bodily and financial harm in the process..

Decide what you'll use it for. If its just hooning around - KTM but if your doing any kind of big mileage go for an XT660 or a Honda FMX because the service intervals on the KTM are so short.
I found the DRZ a bit underpowered

If I ever get off this bloody boat (long story) I'm hoping to get to the stafford bike show i was going to see what i could pick up there I've been looking around and for the price of a road conversion i could buy one of each a road bike and a crosser as long as i wasnt looking for anything newish which i'm not I just put the call out to see what others had done I don't have 5K to upgrade my bike at the moment as I promised the wife a holiday in November so this was my lesser project plan it may or may not work out I've still to rebuild my classic if i get my crankshaft back and I can get some advice on polishing metal, I'll be mad for another project then.

More poke than a DR-Z
Almost as little maintenance (Only high maintenance bit is an oil change every 600 miles)
Looks way nicer IMO
Handles better
weighs about 106 dry, compared to like 135 dry
Sounds like a Demon and the ol Gardai can't do anything cause she wass originally a dirt bike - Doesn't have to meet any noise regulations.
Doesn't need indo's/mirrors/legal reg plate (as a full size one will block the exhaust)/ brake light etc... They have a dim headlight and tail standard but they do fine... I must get an underbar mirrir but for ibndo's i use hand signals.
Rare enough machine on the road
Will slaughter any of the usual factory sm's on corners cause of the weigt etc!
Here is my spec list:
YZ450 titanium exhaust
K-tech suspension
Morad rims (Talon hubs/sprockets, excell spokes)
Monster energy graphics
BRAKING 320mm wavvy front disc (feckin calliper relocater bracket was 120quid shipped from u.s.!)
Galfer wavvy rear disc
Frsh UFO plastics with a YZ450 tail
Acerbis SM front fender
HEL braided brake lines
One industries gel seat cover
Rad shroud spacer (Pushes out the rad shrouds to get more air in and it looks evil!)
Bike it handguards
Pro grips
Renthal chain
trailtech vapor onboard comp
Frame guards
A/M clutch cover
Geared very long for the road so long dist cruising is fine (5k rpm for 100km/h in 5th)
Sump guard
Theres more but I can't think of em now! You won't be dissapointed with one of these, they are awesome! I have ridden a CCM R25, 2 DR-Z's, and a ktm 660 and the wr is by far the nicest! Here is mine:

No matter what SuMo you buy you will be happy, I sold my sportbike after getting my SM cause i just didn't to ride it any more! Happy Christmas!!!!

Bought it the end of November but not been able to get out on it yet with the weather, killer or what!!
As far as mods it has the keihin 39mm carb,3x3 mod and full Akra Ti,renthal rear sprocket. Not sure if it has uprated cams but doubt it,only very low mileage.
All i've done now is change the oil and put the cover back on it lol, can't wait to get out now, will let you know what I think of it after I take it for a good spin

Don, that is great, can't go wrong with a drz, soooo low maintenance! Maybe we should organise a supermoto meeting in ireland for next summer, me and all my buddies sold our sportbikes etc for sumo's... here's our rolecall:
WR 450 F 'tard
2 DRZ-SM's
DRZ-E (being converted)
KTM 660 SMC
CCM R25
