Hi-Visibility Garda Style Jackets - Round 5 Safety wear, Feb 2011

Hello all,
How many people would be interested in buying a TOP quality waterproof, lightweight Hi-viz jacket as worn by the Gardai but obviously without the Garda livery. I have one and they are a fantastic piece of kit for everyone but particularly those doing big mileage and commuting. I think others will concur when I say that trying to find a Hi-viz jacket suitable for the needs of motorcyclists is nigh-on impossible, however this one DOES fit the bill (pardon the pun). some features as follows:
- 100% waterproof
- lightweight
- inside pockets (zipper pockets)
- outside deep pockets
- incredibly effective 'REFLEXITE' reflective banding.
- button down flap down the length of the zip to preserve waterproofing.
- machine washable (brings them up like new.)
NOW, here's the catch, they are special order for the Gardai, so they cannot be bought off the shelf, I need as many buyers as possible before they will take an order (previously I needed 20 minimum, this time however the supplier would prefer more than this to make it worth setting up the production line for). They are €120 each but well worth it. If you are interested, post in this thread, only people who are seriously interested though, as money will have to be upfront to secure the order.
Note: XXL+ sizes incur an extra charge. XXL = €127.50 XXXL = €135
Proviso: I'm not sure if the VAT rate is due to go up or has done since the last budget but if it has, this will be reflected in the price.

Seriously - these jackets are fantastic ... 2.5 years of daily commuting and the worst of the weather kept at bay ... the only glitch I've had is the reflective panels on the sleeves are beginning to show wear, but I'd be lying if I said I'd been kind to the jacket ... it gets properly abused
9 hours in torrential rain in the west, and not a drop let in ... worst impact was the cuffs were a touch moist
If you don't have one, you want one - seriously ...
(Other effects may include drivers on the M50 behaving themselves, mobile phones being dropped, and reduction in SMIDSY incidents ... your mileage may vary ... stocks may fall as well as rise, and tracker mortgages are hard to get nowadays !)
P
If you don't like what you see, get involved and change it !

However, at the risk of making the order complicated would it be possible to order the jacket for some members without the reflective patch? I have seen the jacket with and without the reflective patch around town and in my opinion I don't think the jacket looks great with the patch. To me it suggests that it is either an original police jacket with the Garda patch taken off or a jacket that should have some other patch such as Instructor/Courier Firm Name inserted into it. If members want the jacket to be more reflective at night perhaps more reflective strips rather than the patch.
Thanks for starting Round 5 as I missed the earlier ones.

Due to a reasonable amount of recent interest I have decided to do another group buy on these jackets. Put your name in this thread only if you are SERIOUSLY interested. Maybe some IBF members who have already purchased the jackets will post in the thread and endorse them for those who are unsure. Here is the info from the previous group buy.

I would imagine this is possible, I will confirm.

Thanks Kevin but I usually size people up before the order goes in as its important to get it right because they cannot be exchanged due to the fact that they are made to order. Some people won't know their size.

Would it be possible / practicle / desireable to have IBF on the patch, OR, Think Bike maybe ?
Or maybe POLITE, or
.... be on ....
GAURD

Yeah, its a great jacket. I have had mine ages, it keeps the wind out, the rain out etc. etc.
Its pricey, but it is that good imo.
I have washed mine once at 30 degrees and the patch is starting to lift on the corners, but its been properly abused and when its worn out, I will have another.
Fair play to Giller, group buys are generally a pain in the bum
