Prices are very good and they have a shop - which is a good excuse to get on the bike and go for a ride.

Enjoyed it - used a combination of grape concentrates and fruit/veg/flowers - trial and error really, amazing tho' how keeping a fairly unpalatable parsnip wine for a few years rendered it drinkable eventually!!
Gave it up - lack of time mainly due to taking up biking!!

Good to see you - really liking the wind turbine by the way -
_ Yea wine takes a lot of work - beer on the other hand does not - make and forget for a week - bottle and forget for a week - then drink lol
Nothing really to it - Some overnight camp will bring some along :-)

I can't drink the wine stuff so Someday is now had to drink it herself while i made the beer. it got that i was making gallons of it and was getting rapidly pished everynight trying to keep it from going off
still have all the kegs, gas cylinder and chilling tap cooler thingamy - just bought it at a jumble sale and never used it once - maybe when things get really tough financially i'll dust it all down and give it a go.a friend makes it every month or so and has been doing it for decades. the problem with it was - visitors turned their nose up at it and so knew to bring their own because i dont believe in buying bud etc. because it gives me an instant headache - overpriced cr*p.

4 cases (48pints) sat in storage for the requisite month to "prove". Dead chuffed with meself.
Having a party with me mates one night and I suggested we try it. Wasn't bad........wasn't great, but after a feed of guinness who cared!
In retrospect, leaving it beside the heating boiler was probably a mistake. The thing would only be warm for a few hours a day, and bloody freezing for the rest. Dunno what it did to the brew, but it ended up having some effect.
One of the lads lost 2 stone in a week. The rest spent a few day's not venturing far from a khazi. I nearly faded away from fluid loss.
They never forgave me. To this day, over 30 years later I still get a smack when the subject is mentioned
Leave it to the experts.

i never had a bad batch because as you say the heating process wasnt right; a heated belt around the bucket keeps it consistently fermenting. but the big advantage i found was that i didnt get a headache or hungover or a dose of the squirts:mrgreen:

Yea I made wine for years, easy enough when you got into the swing of it.
Half thinking of going back to it.
As for the exploding keg in the canteen
... ah sure it was only seven gallons of stout ...
and it wasnt my fault the heating was left on full blast.

I do malt extract, but a friend of mine does all grain. Im in a small homebrew club called "The Pot Belly Brewers" as were all kind of fat sihtes!
I used plastic carboys for fermenting but found them harder to clean then glass so I have not had a problem with bad beer since I went to all glass carboys. Going to take my first dive into Wine in the next few months hopefully.
Kits are cheap here, get the Bavarian Hefe for about $30 shipped.

I am from Croatian, I ride a motorcycle and I have been brewing for some time. I plan to visit Ireland in the spring, so I wonder what I as a biker and the brewer must visited in Irland?
THS and cheers with one O hara's red.
