shudda paid more heed to Murphys law
If it can go wrong it will go wrong

took delivery of a new set of adjustable levers for the prilia
after some tips etc on the forum here and being an easy job decided to tackle it myself
brake lever first and in 10 minutes new lever fitted & working
now for the clutch lever
old lever off no cables or fiddly bits just a small hex headed screw holding the actuator on lever
fitted new lever after a bit of force as a bit tighter than old one but lever wouldnt release
after a quick phone call to Larry in sligo decided to put old lever back on and all seemed ok
took boike out this morning heading to Blanchardstown and clutch slipping loike mad
went to bank came out and clutch wouldnt engage
after a call to John in Italian center only course open call recovery and get boike to him
after an hour wait finnally got to Italian center
it seems i cross threaded and bent actuater
many thanks to John and our own v-strom(Christy) Sirius(Dave) who were there for sorting out actuater & new lever adjusted & fitted
no slippy clutch and new levers work loike a dream
so thanks to the lads all set for DSI run Saturday

Got stung myself today, went out to run some carb/injector cleaner through the Aprilia, turned the key, waited for clocks to settle, thumbed the started, everything went dead. Not good.

Off with the seat, check the battery terminals, all tight and connected. Not good.

On to the fuses, all in working order. Very not good.

So it was strip down time, up with the tank, off with the ignition, off with the rear plastics, everything looked fine, all wires present and accounted for. Arse.

Suddenly, I hear a flicker of life................................a glimmer of hope................................but it quickly fades.

Decide to check the main fuses again, cos I might have missed something the first 4 times. Just as I put my hand on the main fuse the dash lights up,but quickly dies again, so off i go pulling and prodding, twisting and turning the fuse holders so see if I can make it happen again. Nothing.

I decide to pop the battery out for a better look at the wires, as soon as I loosened the battery terminal screw, BLING, life in the dash again...........................and this time it stays.


Turned out the battery was connected, but it wasn't making contact.


Anyway, lesson learned, all that for something I should have checked at the beginning.

Least it was a nice dry evening for doin this
