It seems like the obvious cause, but when we put a tester on the pins there is continuous power there.

check that the cables are not inverted
If its ignition fed get a multi meter and check voltage with ignition on & then check it with engine running
havent heard about any proplems with them cradles yet.

Afaik, there is only 2 Power wires, ie., no separate charging connection to the battery.

On the 550, with bike power on it powers the unit and tops up the battery.
