One that I could have done without!
Could someone please help me locate the traffic light on the Finglas test route (where you take left from the main 4 lane road to a housing estate, about 2/3rds into the test)? I really want to check it out on Google Street View to verify the traffic light set up there.
Okay, sorry, so this is what happened. In short, I had full test earlier today, and I failed. Booo me!
The lights were amber when I got there, and I was waiting at the left lane to turn left with the instructor behind me. There were two more lanes going straight and right I think. To the left of me there was traffic lamp pole and as far as I can remember, it had just three (Red, Amber and Green) in a vertical column. And as far I can remember the green was a normal, complete green - a green circle. It came on, and since there was no other reds anywhere I can see, I moved ahead and turned left. Immediately the tester came on the intercom and asked me to stop and said I ran red there. Approx 5 seconds later, it was green (according to him) and he came thru and we proceeded with the test. Now there was a pedestrain crossing on the road I was turning into and I saw it was going yellow and red, so I suppose I had run red - but I certainly didn't see red anywhere. Tester was certain that it was a green arrow, not a complete green. I really really can't remember seeing an arrow there though - may be that exactly is the problem.
Anyway, it's my fault and I take it as a lesson learned - albeit unnecessarily expensive one, but ah well, cest le vie.
Rest of the test went uneventful. I touched the ground with my feet once or twice during the u-turn, and he said I missed the lifesaver once (pulling away after the u-turn/slowpace). The score sheet looks like this:
4 Grade 2s on Signals (1 for 'moving off' and three for 'Cancelling promptly')
2 Grade 2s on Motorcycles (1 for control and 1 for slow ride observation)
2 Grade 2s on Progress (At traffic lights)
And One Killer Grade 3 - Traffic controls - Traffic Lights.
If it wasn't for the red light incident... Ah well, hopefully I will get it right next time!
