The following is from the cyclesaddles.com website:
"The most asked question here is: "what is the difference between a MonoKey case and a MonoLock case"? Simply stated, the MonoKey series is the top of the line series with a more substantial mount, more features, and better quality construction. MonoKey mounts are sold seperately.
The MonoLock cases are generally a smaller and lighter top case with a smaller mount and lock up. Consider MonoLock cases for "light duty" applications. MonoLock cases are sold with a universal mount included."

As above, but also the baseplates
Both types have a "lock" tang at the rearmost point of the baseplate (central)
Monolock have a "spoiler" at the seat-side into which slide two plastic lugs from the box.
Monokey have a pair of inverted-L shaped protrusions at the seat-side of the case, left and right .. .these engage (solidly) with the respective slots on the top-box base and provide a secure mounting point.
Monokey attachments are also used for side-boxes, where monolock wouldn't be up to much

Myself and mrs have the monolock Givi Simply boxes - great for leaving stuff in when out and about; but not secure as I thought, but mines had a few bashes.
