I had a 650 and it was absolutely brilliant. Would I buy again - definitely yes.

Don't go there Pete. The Strom was the start of your "flying" lessons wasn't it?
Yup the Strom is a cracking bike, comfortable, handles well, reasonably quick and is bomb proof. Plenty of owner info on the Strom websites so you'll never likely be stuck.

Have mine since last Oct and absolutely love it-very comfortable, the engine is a peach....equally at home cruising on the motorway or
enjoying the twisties
like most Suzukis,ya just need to keep on top of the cleaning...get a can of acf 50 and you'll be sorted.

Thats great Dave, I just might take you up on your offer of a spin.
I'm thinking they might be a bit tall and heavy for me so might look at the 650.

Your welcome to try mine as well. Its got a lower seat. They are a bit heavy but nothing you can't get use to.

They are a great bike on my second one
Never had any real issues with them
02 had issues with clutch basket rattles & clutch slave cyl leaks
the 1000 is only 16kgs heavier than the 650
the 650 seat pops straight on to the 1000, making it a bit lower

think i saw you on the fz1 in swords village last week? i was in the van,
i absolutely love that bike and if i had the money to change at the mo would defo buy it.
the vstrom , yeah i have mine about four years now , absolutely great machine, tons of torque and great fun, gives absolutely no trouble.
after the fz i'd say go for the 1000, ye'll only wish ya had after a while.
you know about the finish issues from garyb and hatchos sv's i'm sure, and apart from that i've absolutely no probs with mine
and it's a '03 model

Query why both wheels are grounded whilst on the centre stand though. But 2k is a reasonable price. Looks great.

Also why is one hand guard missing. I suspect damage on that side of the bike. Almost definitely it took a heavy drop.
