Just spotted a new RSA Bike Safely advert on RTE...a great ad I reckon ..can't locate in online though...maybe someone here can find it?




On a seperate I see that according to new data by RSA bikers are five times more likely to have a fatality on Irish roads and three times more likely to have a fatality here than on other EU country roads

I think that ad was on before (is it the "somebody's brother, somebody's son, etc ad?).

The one thing that struck me about it was that the bikers were "somebody's brother, somebody's son...." and not "somebody's sister, somebody's daughter"....

Yep just saw it again....it's all brother dad son etc .. faces are both male and female though....RSA needs some forthright communications from girlie bikers methinks

I commented on that to BW when the ad came on the other night. But it's something, at least, and it's pointing out drivers' responsibilities, which can only be good

Excuse my ignorance, but is this not an old ad?? I seen this ages ago, it's not "new". But it's a good ad nonetheless.

Hi

The ad was originall produce by/fot the DOE (Department Of the Environment) up here in Northern Ireland.

We had asked last year for a copy or for it to be made available for example on YouTube but basically told no.

We have just asked again - yesterday - and been offered contact with the producers etc to see if it can now be made available.

In my personal opinion that's probably just a warm up for mandatory high viz, the RSA's cunning plan reinforce the mistaken belief in most drivers that it's not their fault they didn't see us.

Of course the fact that rider safety has improved more than almost any other road user group is ignored.

But then again, I'm probably just an old cynic. The fact that the RSA's National Motorcycle Safety Action Plan completely ignores the use of bus lanes is clearly a sign that the majority of us who do so safely on a routine basis haven't got a clue and shouldn't be on a bike.

I did see this on de telly and it was so different and it was a good one. But and there is always a but, who really takes this in when watching the telly? I only showed interset because I ride a bike, most other people will just blank when they see it. I don't be running down the shope to buy ice cream everytime an ad for it comes on the telly.

I love the Jimmy Hill one, brings back s many memories, like ah siht they wrecked a good bike, they could have kept it and gave it to me

That ads just scared my girl.but not me though. Some points of view is good like "take another look" when the mondeo came out from the side road. But kind of pointless when i saw on the motorway bike changed lane. It should be a car changing lane but just almost hit a bike cause the driver didn't check the blind spot does a lifesaver. Overall I don't really think this ads worked as good as the ads ask the young drivers to slow down couple of the years ago.(car rolled into a garden killed a football boy and young driver sitting in the disable wheelchair while the rock music still on those.)
