Edit..yes, i did.
if you are a child, elderly etc judging speeds can be a problem.
if you are an adult and can't' judge the speed of a light bulb travelling down the road toward you, then should you be on the road?
But if i am whooring down country roads and there are side roads and crossroads everywhere, i would rather have my light on than not (and i can't turn it off either, so that must say summat there), if i'm blatting along and i see a sign for a cross roads, obviously i move to a more defensive area in the road to make sure i am seen, also if needs be. i will stick on or flash the full beam just incase.
IMO: It is hard to see a motorbike, moving in different weather/road conditions, without a light on. we have such a small profile and can move so fast, that i'd rather have the light on then not.

Exactly, It's sometimes hard to even see a car in some cases.
If you're driving along with a car behind you with lights on and yours are off, nine times out of ten the person pulling out or coming the other direction will only see the car behind you.
Also, driving through a dark area (under trees or the likes) with more than likely dark clothing on and no lights will make you near invisible to someone coming from a brighter area or roadway into the darker area.
For me it's always have dipped heads on.
What ever about light off why do people ride about with just parking lights on.? That I don't see the point of bar lighting up their instrument cluster. Completely useless. If you go to the effort you may aswell turn them on fully.

For me is dipped beams on all the time and if you meet me and my lights are not on feel free to tell me or turn them on (it isnt that obvious on the SP during the day)!

Maybe whooring along country roads with side roads and crossroads everywhere isn't such a good idea anyway, lights or no lights.
From the MAIDS report, iirc 69% of the bikes involved in collisions were using lights at the time of the impact.

Presumably if your lights aren't on we won't be able to see you to tell you

well - there's the hanged man, death, the burning tower and ...oh - you didn't mean the Tarot then?
i think we'd agree that so much about this topic is "risk compensation" and that the best light to keep burning is the one between yer ears - keep it switched on and your chances improve.
no amount of wattage nor day glo is going to work better than that.
ya did ask!

It is also much harder to judge the persons speed\distance when full beams are on so just stick with the dipped beams, thats what I do and it does the job nicely.
You'll be glad to know that I dont have to leave the full beams on anymore, just modded the Fazer for dual dipped beams and its doing the job!
