Schuberth C3

My work ride is a Honda FJS 600 and it has a good windscreen. Despite this, the first time I encountered rain, the visor let in freely at the top. The seal simply was not working and I had water drops coming down the inside of the visor and sometimes on to my face. There was no adjustment that I was aware of , so I had to revert to Crossans. I also have a Multitech and have no such problems with it.
When I spoke with Crossans they told me that the Helmet would have to be returned to the Factory as they did not have the wherewithall to fix it themselves. I posted the helmet to them on the 2nd July as they are too far north from where I live to justify driving up again. They received the helmet on the 7th July. Long story short, I have only just received the helmet back a couple of days ago on the 14th September. I have been without it for approximately two and a half months. It is now supposedly fixed but I have yet to get out in the rain with it. However this is far too long for a problem to be sorted out, with any product.
I am advised by Crossans that the return of the helmet to Germany coincided with national holidays there. It also seems that there was a change of distributors in the UK. Crossans do not entirely come up smelling of roses here as they acknowledged receipt of the helmet on the 7th July but according to themselves did not post it to the people in the UK until the 28th. I also had an unreasonable amount of following up to do with Crossans to get matters expedited. By the beginning of September I just wanted a refund of my money but apparently this could not be done. Crossans tell me they will allow me a credit note for another helmet if the Schuberth is still problematic.
Lessons learned ? Shop closer to home as, when there is a problem, distance from the retailer can be a real nuisance. Also I will listen to warnings in future, as I had been warned about the leaking visor issue and subsequently (after purchase) found several mentions of it on the web. I believe this forum will be helpful also in that regard. On a positive note with Crossans I will say that the experience on the day of purchase was helpful and pleasant. I also purchased the Multitech from them.
I will update on this issue in a short while when I have tested the helmet in the rain.

Check with N.I. Ombudsman's office.
That's my understanding of consumer law.
How long have you got it - what's the guarantee??

In defence of Schuberth C3 helmets, I have been wearing mine for 18 months now, and my visor has never leaked. I am thoroughly happy with it. It is the most comfortable helmet I've ever had, and also very quiet.
The visor does close automatically as your speed increases, but I don't have a problem with this. I love the integrated sun visor.
I purchased mine from Philip McCallen in Lisburn, but have had no reason to contact him since (I couldn't find any local dealers selling them). Local retailers are better, if a problem arises, tho'.

According to the C3 manual that came with the lid, Schuberth guarantee their helmets for 2 years from date of purchase, except for visors & sun visors which are guaranteed for 1 year. There are the usual exceptions for wear & tear, modifications and improper use.
Hanna here on IBF had an issue with her Schuberth (the rubber seal shrivelled & cracked if I recall) and she sent it back to Germany. You could PM her or search on IBF for more details.

Maybe we should give them an option on publicity.
I have a C2. You are aware of the fact that the visor has two positions when closed. It can be tight against the seal or a mm or so away from the seal for ventilation??? Thus the little indent in the fin at the side of the visor.

Bought a C3 a few weeks ago, some drops came in in the first shower of rain but want to try it in the rain a few more times before complaining.
I had a Concept and a C2 and was very happy with them. The C3 has some improvements over the C2, mainly the lighter weight, the size and operation of the sun visor and the pinlock facility on the visor. However, to me, it has significant disadvantages - MUCH noisier than the C2, definitely need to wear earplugs now, the vent position referred to above doesn't exist anymore and it's difficult to keep the visor slightly open, and I find I can't stop the strap from cutting into my neck.....then there's the price !
All in all, not really happy with it - it's like as if Schuberth took the C2 and tried to make it more like the BMW System 5 helmet (which they made) which features those disadvantages mentioned above
BTW, read about all these issues on other forums in the last few months and decided to ignore them (I was seduced by the idea of the add-on Bluetooth collar)

Usually visor fogs up.
Friend gave me rain repellent to put on visor.
The interesting thing was that the visor didn't fog up at all.
I suppose it is partly the fact rain wasn't staying on the visor.
Even so it will be interesting to see what happens when it's really cold!!!!
