Is there anyway I can clear out old photos from posts or albums and so free up some memory for further items?

Indeed there is,
click on the dropdown menu where your name is on the top right,
then select settings.
In the settings menu, on the left hand side, you will see "manage attachments"
From there you can delete whatever you don't want to keep.

Or alternatively, we can increase the amount of space available. Something thats on the radar since the upgrade......

why not post them to photobucket and then post the "IMG" link here, the pics still appear without having to go to another site OR for big albums you could use Picasa and post a link to your album

Because I dont like photobucket
and when things are uploaded here for example to the gallery and linked into a post, we get nice pictures to look at in the gallery.We have increased the amount of space available for all members. It was set to 5mb, now increased to 20mb. Cheers

thats cool. was trying to loads pics there a while ago but was maxed out.
