Hi all,

Just wondering can anyone recommend any historically accurate books or films and so on about the Russian invasion of Afganistan in 1979. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a book somewhere entitled the Afghan Wars, I'll try and dig it out for you. It covers Afghanistan and all of it's invaders going back to pre 1900's. I found it VERY heavy going and never finished it, I never even got as far as 1979 but you're welcome to give it a go if it is of relevance to you.

Not too heavy and gives cold hard facts, he's a former ambassador to USSR turned historian...remember reading this a while back, got it from the local library because it was hard to get in shops

Update - the book covers the period 1839 - 1919, so it's not what you were looking for, apologies.
