That's the Irony of modern technology and deregulation, we are promised greater choice and freedom from the heavy hand of centralisation but instead we get a descent into the mainstream of mediocrity because that is where the money is thought to be. A detrimental side effect is that people generally become more intolerant of extremes unless they are shown to be successful rather than just harmless. Living on the edge is all very well if you can afford it and don't we just love an eccentric, so long as he's a millionaire. The rest are just nutters.

I'd say age is the key but just assumed most Nova listeners are closer to my generation
