Just a quick one......

Anywone had an experience with the newer Guzzi's, as in the Stelvio ? I have never owned one but would maybe contemplate buying one in the future ( you have to plan ahead right ?! )

The stelvios get a good write up but lack midrange allegedly, and have soft brakes according to some write ups. An engine with 1151cc and only 76bhp appx not amazing figures i know.

any thoughts / opinions ?

good enough machine, good handing etc lovely too ride etc,.

But be prepared to be shocked when dealing with Guzzi UK,. f__king nightmare

There was a good article in the Irish bike guide a while ago on the Stelvio. 2008 model had midrange issues but the latest model has seemed to rectify this. Was thinking of trading the 1150gs in for one a while back as I have a couple of older Guzzis, but its hard to beat the old GS.. Maybe next year.

McCallen had them for a while, then chucked them out, Colraine MC had them for a while, then chucked them out, RR had them for a while, then chucked them out, there was also a good guy in Dublin, can remember shop name had them for a while, then chucked them out,... it may have changed, I doubt it cause its gone on sol long, but their Reps and their Admin are so incompetent it is seriously unbelieveable,. I wouldn't trade an 1150 for even a new one,. seriously, they are a good bike, but not up to an 1150,. in fact I would trade an 1150 for a 1200gs,.

Clifton Motors in Belfast have had a Guzzi agency for a while - looked after some warranty issues that former Guzzi dealer here in Dublin didn't sort out. I found Piaggio UK very helpful in this instance

Travelled a good few thousand kms in company with a Dutch Stelvio rider last summer. He seemed very happy with it, his main concern seemed to be the leaking panniers

Jeez, forgot about Clifton,your spot on. yep, they are a good bunch of lads in there, as far as I know they are still Guzzi dealers I just hope they dont siht them about too

Tks for the replies, they highlight an issue of a main dealer within realistic reach. SO thats gonna bea an issue. Its always nice to have something different though.

However, at that rate the GS or an 800 adventure bike of some kind may come into play, few new machines out as well next year for 2012 there will be a few more bikes to consider - these are being launched in November at the EICMA.

Clifton Motors aren't that far away, just off the Westlink in Belfast CC. And Robbie in Moto Technic in Kimmage worked in the Guzzi dealers here in Dublin - I've seen him servicing a Stelvio rcently.

Of course, there may be a main dealer closer to Andermatt

Sorry I am a BMW biker, don't gnow anything about the Stelvio
