Hiya everyone
Well I noticed on one of my first dusk trips that the backlight behind the speedo and half the fuel guage isn't working, and the other half of fuel guage/revs work. So I thought "ok might just need new bulbs - thats fine. But the thing is due to the good amount of roadworks nearby I found out when I hit a big enough pothole, the lights behing the speedo would "flash" on for a split second. So - guessing loose wiring somewhere along the line. Any ideas what I can do myself (since i'm a newbie) or should I bite the bullet and put her into a garage and hope they find the fault quickly? thanks for any tips ye can give me

That's something that you should be easily able to fix. Just take the bulb holder and it's wire out and check the connections. Jiggle the wire about and see when the bulb lights up. You should find the loose connection with ease. Just clean the connections. If that doesn't work check more connections following on from there. It may be a damaged wire however and that would need a repair/replace job. Again easy enough to do.
