I could never figure out the "mystery" here...counter steering is a natural action on a bike, if you don't counter steer...you won't be on a bike for long. Don't think too deep on it, it only complicates a simple process.
"And nowhere is this best illustrated than in the county of Cork where the natives possess an extravagant faculty to advance this indigenous proclivity far above the bounds of all common reason."

Yeap, impossible to be on a bike without doing it...but as the vid says when you understand why you're doing it you can get alot more lean, confidently and safely..Knowing about it could be difference between leaning just that bit more rather than pulling that front brake and the disaster that follows if you go into that bend too hot...

Yup. Also, you can change direction flipping left-right-left again like an F16 on combat power!
I could be arguing in my spare time.

For the short time that I've been on a bike, I always just found that counter steering is a completely natural thing, you don't even realise you're doing it, least I didn't the first time I was out and about!
Good little video though to try and explain it.
"And Ray, if you come in here again dressed like a maths teacher, il paint your balls a shade of hazlenuts and inform a bag of squirels that winter is coming." Good old Gene Hunt eh?
