Any of you good folks got a loan of a power washer for a couple of days? I have some decking that needs a cleaning....
Or if anyone has good tips on getting decking that has about a half inch of moss/slime on it clean that'd be appreciated too

We have one your welcome to use. I always sprinkle the end of packets of washing powder over our concrete outside the back door when I'm throwing out the box and that helps keep down moss and algae.

Go easy with the power washer, can do damage. If it was me I would mix some bleach (chlorine based like domestos etc) and warm water and go at it with a yard brush or deck scrub , give it a good scrub in the direction of the groves, leave it on for a few mins, 10-15, and then rinse off with plenty of water, may have to be done twice but should work. Yes you can use the power washer too but dont get too close or it will cause splintering and other damage

Bang on there Fatso, James the last thing you'd want is to go at it with power washer. You will need to kill the algae first, I would leave the bleach on a lot longer that Fatso suggests, try over night. Deck scrubber is yer only man, the clue is in it's name. Power washing will raise the grain on the timber and it will give the algae a new home to go and live in. No need for a power washer at all for this job.

Cheers for that Dick. Will give that a go with the bleach/deck scrubber. Any particular brand to get or just get the usual overpriced woodies stuff ?

Dunne's should have all you need James, get some bleach and a bucket mix with some warm water and then spread it all over the decking, use a nylon head brush if you have one. Make sure you wash it out throughly afterwards or it will make a xillob of your kitchen floor. Then just scrub the decking with copious amounts of water, from a garden hose will do. It's NOT that hard to do James, maybe time consuming seeing as you're more of an Office type
