Very cool. I've seen that in real life only twice. Once ouside the Hodson Bay hotel in Athlone and once on the road from Ladysbrige to Ballymacoda. Of course Sod's law dictated that I didn't have a camera either time.

Exactly what I was thinking, there must have been tens of thousands of birds in sync there, was on the end of the news tonight again (abt 9-25pm)

Its only very recently they have discovered some of what really goes on inside these mass formations, what they thought was happening and how each bird interacted with each was actually wrong. I watched something on it recently, very interesting stuff indeed.

Thank you amazing video. I've seen this a few times and it is an amazing sight. I was once in the Lake district on top of a hill looking down a valley when a murmation of starlings happened, we stayed and watched it for a good half an hour. Made us late for the pub but was well worth it.

Just witnessed, for the first time, this spectacular event last Wednesday evening on my way through Charlestown.....just outside the town shortly after 5 o clock..........had to stop and take it all in for about half an hour...........
Am amazing display of flying and of some fantastic patterns in the sky..........

Was down walking with a pal at Our Lady's Island and Tacumshin barrier lakes in sout Wexford yesterday and saw a large flock of birds (maybe curlews?) doing
something similar. They had pale gray underbellies which were almost irridescent in the sun and they looked like a shoal of fish swooping and diving - amazing!

I'd imagine Curlews are a bit more than rare now....

... they were a rare sight even when I was in school...
