Latest edition of Ride magazine have a great write up on comparision of top 4 Tourers

BMW K1600 GT

Kawasaki 1400 GTR

Pan European ST 1300

BMW R 1200 RT

overall the 1200 RT & ST 1300 came out best in my view for handling single rider with luggage & 2 up

New 1600 GT Beemer seems to use a lot of oil and overheat in traffic

GTR 1400 faired well albeit a bit cumbersome etc in low speed filtering situations and worse overall for pillion comfort

Don't mind him, he's a messer.

I look forward to riding all of these motorcycles in about 10 years time when they're xillobed and I can afford them.

Where do you guys buy the Ride magazine? I was thinking of getting a subscription but I'm too cheap! I tried to find back issues on ebay but the delivery charges are very expensive

Motorcycle Consumer News (US) reviewed the VFR1200, FJR1300 and GTR1400 (aka Concours 14) in Aug '10. Very interesting, the GTR 1400 won hands down - "What an amazing package it actually is: with the best overall suspension, best wind-resistance, suberb fuel injection and transmission, and a newfound ability to slow down with inducing anxiety. The sporttouring bar has been raised, hail the new king!"

Obviously bikers in the US will have different views on what makes the best touring machine, but I think that there are enough differences even between the UK and Ireland to yield different results when judging the "best" bike in a category.

MCN review here. Its a good site - plenty of downloadable articles, unlike most magazine sites.

Ive ridden and reviewed all of the bikes mentioned and each have their merits, but as an everyday bike that can eat miles, is lighter than the others, handles brilliantly, the RT shades it for me.

I went out an bought the magazine in Easons for less than 5 or 6 euro. 1/4 of the way through. Good so far. I like the clothing reviews and how it's not all about racing bikes.
