Europe tour 2012 Transport bikes to Nice 18th August 2012

As part of the plan I contacted Overlanders to get a quote for one way shipping. While not keen to organise one way shipment he told me that the more bikes we could get together the better.
So far we have about 6 bikes pretty much confirmed with a 7th being a maybe. A total of 12 would make for a full shipment.
While I am not proposing all 12 bikes tour together, shipping to and leaving from the same spot makes sense if it helps all financially. The idea is to all ship to the same destination and then go our own ways in either groups or alone which ever suits.
So if there are any interested in shipping a bike or bikes for delivery 18th August 2012 in Nice, please contact Dereck at Overlanders to see if he can fit you into the quote he is preparing for us.
I realise this is very far in advance and fairly loose, but it's our first time shipping and I am loathed to leave it and be disappointed.
PM me if you have further questions.

The quote received today was 450 per bike. I am hoping to get that closer to 400 or less otherwise we will have to make alternative plans. I also have some hauliers that are customers of mine working on a price.

its 100 euro from paris to nice
one way over night. you can take the TGV
down and then wait for the bikes to arrive the next day
just encase the price for overlanders is too high
i know that you still have to get from ireland to paris
via the ferry, etc, etc
but its just a thought thats all

I have a haulier (Long standing customer of mine) that has agreed to ship our bikes. He will use a complete box trailer or curtain-sider, which should handle 12 bikes.
So far we have about 8 bikes sorted. If we can get another 4 bikes (12 in total) we can get the price down to as little as Euro 250/bike. That is a lot cheaper than Ferry + accommodation + Fuel + Food (Not to mention the squared off tyres). Additionally you gain 2 more days on the continent or save 2 days leave which ever way you look at it.
PM me if you would like further details.

Good to see you got your Internet sorted .. it's been kinda quite about here
And yeah I know outbound date is 18/08 but just curious as to return dates, possible route(s) back etc...gearing up for my first continental trip and it would be nice if I could manage to hook up with 'Bears tour 2012' on their return journey

Our plans are at this stage are to do the following, all be they fairly flexible and subject to others being happy with them.
From Nice head into Alps via D902, Petit St Bernard pass to La Thuile
From La Thuile head towards Lake Como and then Lake Garda for one day rest.
From Lake Garda head into the Dolomites taking in Stelvio amongst many others. Then stop in Llendeck for a few days. From there do day tours.
After Llandeck head to Salzburg and Berchtesgaden.
From Bergtesgaden/Salzburg head back across Bavaria towards Black Forest, do the B500 and then Route Des Crete.
If time allows head back via some WW1 and WW2 sites in the Ardennes. Go to the Battle of the Bulge sites, this will have nothing to do with the result of our eating
Not sure of which Ferry we will take but may be the Zeebrugge to Hull and then make our way across the UK doing Snake Pass on the way.

Thats a decent price. I airfreighted my S10 to USA incl dangerous goods forms etc for just over 1k, and back from Lima for a little less, so 400 per bike via land was a bit pricey.
Any company dealing mainly with shipping motorbikes seem to be charging interesting prices for it.
