Hi all.
wondering if any one can give me some practical advice?
I want to get my full bike licence and I am pretty clear on the process for ROI.
I am moving to NI for a few years in March and was wondering if I would be better waiting and doing my training and test there?
Rules seem pretty similar in terms of training but if I do the test here and pass , then transfer my licence to NI will I get over the 2 year restriction?
Also will I have to wait 6 months to take my teat if I apply in NI?
I have a full Irish Car and truck licence for the past 12 years and have no probs changing it over to a UK/NI licence.
Any thoughts?
Appreciate any help........

Hi and welcome.
You could change your licences up the north and do the Direct Access for bikes there, as there is no DA in the south.

Hi Cb1.
Thanks for the reply.
That was going to be my prefered option.
However , Unfortunatly, it seems there is no DA in NI.

Oh, I assumed there is DA in the north, apologies.
IMO The south for the test, ROTR are slightly different, you know the roads in your area, there is the extra manouvers test in the north.
However time is against you.

The restriction after you pass your test is for the south only. Under EU regulations it is a local restriction and doesn't apply outside of the republic.
To do DA in the UK you will need to prove that you are resident in the UK. You will be asked for a bank statement and an utility bill for the address you are using.

Woman and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea
