discovered i have phone insured but would still have to pay 40 euro to get screen replaced
so after a week of comparing phones and getting me head melted with phone provider speak etc have got an iphone 4s
blasted providers telling me had to pay between 100 & 199 euro for iphone and high tarrif for 18 to 24 months ffs
I discovered I could get the iphone 4s for free and low tarrif for 24 months contract
so happy days going to have fun learning how to use my new toy
thanks to one and all for advice/tips etc

I've just got one yesterday, followed the instructions with I-Tunes, did the Back Ups and all was great, the new phone powered up exactly the same as the old one Except, it wouldn't send or receive text messages?? It allows you to type in the message but as soon as you hit send the phone goes back to the 'desk top' page. The message doesn't arrive and the phone doesn't receive any messages either...
Any ideas??

Like I said, it's fiddly but it's doable. I replaced the screen on Flash's phone in about 10 mins but you have to fit together tiny connection that would be easily bent or broken.
I love my iphone, never had a problem with it but they're slipperly lil boogers so it's worth getting a gel cover for it. I'd be forever dropping mine without it as I'm cack handed at the best of times. They're cheap as chips on ebay.

I was up in Belfast in the Apple Store and they restored it back to factory setting and it worked OK until I put all my info back on it from my I-Tunes back up and it is back to the same crap again.
I'l just had my old 3GS sim powered back up and the 4S is heading back to Vodafone...
General opinion is that there is something wrong with the phone...

When an iPhone user sends a message to another iPhone user, iOS sends an iMessage rather than a SMS. iMessages are displayed in a pretty blue bubble rather than the pretty green bubble used for SMS messages. So, it's obvious you are texting a person of discerning taste.

Great bit off kit.
The main selling point for me was having a device that can hold my tunes/flms and a decent internet browser on for the long boring night shifts and make calls with.
So sold me ipod 32gig gen4 for £100
Only down side is that SIRI thing is pure sihte as it don't understand my fermanagh brouge at all.
but it's good craic asking it silly stuff like " howya gettin on" to hear the response.
My work colleage who happens to be an english twat can be understood perfectly
So it was designed to be understood by twats more than bog hoppers (fair enough)
Got on to apple in cork and bought it outright with an extra year warranty for £560
They offered me 10 months interest free credit as £56 a month is easier than all in one go.
So TBH it's probably capable of far more than i'll ever need.
