Firstly, I tend to do all my own mechanical work. But since I got the futura I have been learning about the black art of italian electrics !!
However I needed 2 tyres fitted to the bike so had asked Extreme 45 if they would fit 'em for me. I dropped down at 10.30 this morning and went for a coffee across the road, with a chap on a mille who was getting a new tyre fitted.
40 minutes later after a good discussion about mods for the electrics of our bikes we went back to Extreme.
I noticed my bike was still on the ramp!! siht......... I was told the rear wheel was stuck on the single sided swinging arm and that they were trying to remove it for the last 50 mins or so. They had sprayed it liberally with WD40 but it was refusing to budge.
So i watched as they tried to tap at the rear wheel with a rubber mallet.. it moved 2mm at the most. Then I said they could apply a bit of heat but they did not want to as it would destroy the paint on the wheel rim. Fair enough......
I held the bike with one of the mechanics as we used a wooden handle off a steel mallet, (type used to break up rocks) , but still no movement. siht I thought as we tried for approx another 40 mins to bang and spray the hub to remove it. I was counting euro signs in my head!!
I eventually said they should use a heat source and dont worry about the paint, but they said no that they would keep trying...I would have said f**k it by then and got a blow torch to the fecker....
A while later after 2 of us held the bike while the mechanic BOUNCED the rim with the mallet handle it finally gave in.........Italians dont realise that steel and aluminium chemically bond when tightened up to each other (land rover knew this 30 years ago when the spare wheel on the back door of their vechicles used to lock to the door.)
Anyway at approximately 1 o'clock the tyre was then removed and replaced, Ahhhh siht I thought they werte working at it for 3 and a half hours...the Visa card was out of my pocket now as I feared the labour costs for it.....!!
I had been told 50 euro for the ride in ride out....what was the cost after 31/2 hours ......Only 60 euro!!!!! feck me lads I was blown away.
Thats what I call service and customer satisfaction.
I seldom use bike shops for work, but I am blown away by this level of service, I will avoid the internet shopping for a while and put my cash towards extreme 45, we all need shops like these who go the extra mile for no obvious benefit.
Well done and thank you...

That's a good result Colm.
My one and only experience with Xtreme45, albeit quite some time back during the Celtic tiger, they asked me for €45 to put a mushroom plug on a rear tyre (wheel already off the bike.) Needless to say, the wheel went straight into the car boot and I got it plugged in a car place for a fiver. Never been back to them since.
Glad to see that they have since got their act together since then
