It's that time again boys and girls....the 3 months are up and once again we get to play our small part in supporting the fantastic work of the Irish Blood Transfusion Service by sacrificing a little of our time to make sure there's help there for those who need it when life goes horribly wrong. So many of our members here on IBF have benefitted from this help and it's a tradition I'd really like to keep going. As always, our regular donors are more then welcome, but we’d also love to get some first timers out..so don’t be shy!

The details are:

Venue: Blood Clinic in D’Olier Street, Dublin
Date: Wednesday, 1st February
Time: From 5:30 onwards

For the noobs - giving blood really is painless. The staff take extremely good care of you and a feel good factor is guaranteed. Not everyone is suitable to donate however so please consult the link below to make sure you’re eligible;
Can I give Blood?

The format usually goes a little like this - show up at 5.30ish, have a bit of banter, followed by a bit of slagging, followed by more chat (somewhere in the midst of all this there will be the small matter of the donation) rounded off with some free tea/coffee and biccies and more banter in the onsite café. If you’re even half thinking of it or it’s one of those things you’ve never gotten around to, then now’s your chance

For those travelling by car - if you park in the Fleet Street carpark you can validate your ticket at the Blood Clinic so it's free

The blood clinic can accomodate a maximum of 10 people at any one time. Please copy and paste the list below, adding your name, if you can help.

How long does it normally take guys, from filling out the form to getting the blood taken?

i went to give blood 2 weeks ago in portlaoise and the wait was an hour, after you had filled the out the forms..i didn't have over an hour to give them unfortunately.

Id like to give blood, if Dublin was quicker id try do do it but i have two people that need to be briought home after work everynight so id need to be to them by 6.30pm

It can vary Wes. We're booked in as a group of 10, and you're certainly welcome to go first from our crew, but sometimes there are a few other there too. I'd say if you were there for 5.30 or you could even head in a little earlier (just tell them you're with 'the bikers') you'd be fairly sure of being done in plenty of time.

I'd like to give also as i missed the last group donation but my better half needs me home Mon - friday as she works evenings. I'll see about a sitter for a few hours otherwise I'll donate on my own. Good to see the tradition kept going though.

I think I'm ok to give this time, but I help teach a yoga class on Mondays and Wednesdays. I'll try make it up one of the days myself.
