CB400'99 can not be restricted?

Today I was in a shop to get my honda CB400 restricted, its from '99.
The shop owner told me it could not be restricted because it was the first of the new models that can not be restricted by the restrictor kits.

Does anyone know if there is a way to restrict it? And if so where?

I'm almost sure it could be restricted at the header pipes by putting in washers that would restrict the flow of the exhaust....

Edit: Looked about the net, and it seems it's a carb restrictor that goes in a CB 400....

any idea where I can get that done and if I would still be able to get a certificate with it? Otherwise i might just consider to risk it and drive around without it

The bike can be restricted at the throttle but you won't get a cert to prove it so that's not much use for insurance companies who are the one's who usually insist on a cert. It should however, keep you within the law although if you wanted to be certain, you'd need to get the bike dyno'd to make sure it's within the power bracket for restricted bikes. Where in Ireland are you? I know someone who's done this but it might be a bit out of your way.

You could also give City Spares a shout. They are currently doing certified restriction kits.

I went back to the shop and they said they couldnt restrict it because the kits dont come for the cb400 superfour V-Tek model (nc39), anyone know a workaround for this?

What shop did you go back to? Did you try a different shop?
I wouldn't have thought there was a difference between restricting the old and new SuperFours, there's not much difference between the two engines/carbs to luck at.
