Kang here, don't know how many of you lads can still remember me?? ha.
Since I came back to China from Ireland last Oct. I was not working for nearly 4 months. still dont get used to here. things had changed so quickly. sometimes I really DO feel i like irish more than my native.
Got a job in Dongguan of Guangdong, China, clost to shenzhen and hong kong. 4 hours fly away from home. 13 hours fly away from 2nd home Irealnd. ha.
Miss Ireland so much, still listen KFM and FM104 online sometimes, ha. Ireland is in my blood now I guess. will go back to visit another day if I can make some serious money here, ha.
haven't touch any bike in the past few months as well. almost everywhere here banned the bikes. so I have no choice. but good thing is I passed the artic truck and coach tests too here. so with Irish and Chinese driving licence, right or left, at any country, anywhere, anyside, i can drive the big yoks now.

Am I? jesus! hope it was too bad. mess around with the job seeking for a long time. so didnt check the site often enough. my mistake.
there are jobs there, get one is easy. but get one you like and you can accept it for the rest of the life is hard.

Pity about the dumb bike ban ..
bike ban is not the worst, the worst part is nobody follow the traffic rules... if i have a bike here running on the road, i must be ready for suicide.

Have a brother over in Beijing at the moment.
Beijing is such a big city, I wouldn't like their air. ask your brother if he feels okay with the "sha chen bao(the dust storm)". one of the worst air quality in world.

if i want to find a place that doesnt ban bikes, then my salary could be half down or even less. smaller cities allow bikes, but lowered lifestyle too.

Glad you got a job and I am sure you guys will find ways around the ban.
Take care, and do send on a pic !

yes, midnight, no reg on the bike. ride motorcross to get rid of the police. btw, chinese police mostly only have 250 cc bike or less. a siht car runs around 100-160 km/h. so there s always a way to ride your bike. but just dont feel right. bike its your lover, not a criminal. should be legal for legal users i think. but i m nobody so they wont care about my thinking. although if I AM somebody, then i dont need to care about their thinking. one phone call the police will have to let you go, or they will lose their job, this is China ,man~ haha. even in beijing, all police have to learn on the day one - what kind of car and reg they can not touch.

Pity about the bike ban... probably a reason to holiday outside China maybe?
I can ride a bike in Hong Kong if I have the money to buy a bike, but before that - an tiny 2nd hand apartment around 500 sqft over there will cost me 300K euro first.

well you are irish so you can move to anywhere you like. but i m chinese, so not much choices. thats what i got for NOT doing anything illegal in Ireland when i was there. no fake marriage or born a child there. hoho. in europe at least you can drive safely, here you are taking huge risk. nobody follow the traffic rules inc policy.
KaosTheory, on 07 February 2012 - 02:21 PM, said:
Nah, they'll just keep making up more and more ridiculous rules and laws till we eventually decide its not worth going out on the bikes!
well at least i know one Alan wont listen to them, haha
