Feel like a sneaky day off tomorrow.

No idea of a rideout plan - I am shite at navigating. Someone take the helm ?

Meet up circa 10 and home for 4 ?

Short notice I know, but the weather is gonna be cracking tomorrow they reckon.

Kevin Meyers

Anyone listening to 106 newstalk after 12 today ??. Kevin Meyers was opining re
the spate of mainly kids getting themselves killed in cars lately. He reckons
the media is doing a bad job as the "victims"are not victims at all as they know
exactly what they are getting themselves into when they drive as they do . Hard to
disagree with the guy imo **BUT**- for Christ"s sake ,,the parents of those kids
are still weeping , could Kevin have not waited till there is a break in this carnage
and then give his slant on this crazyness . Something has to be done , yes , but a
better timed debate ??? I dunno folks , I can see the faces of the parents today as
they listened to Meyers cold words. Bad timing Kevin- I know he means well but
the timing ,,,,,,,,,,

Speedball

Hey guys and gals, thought I would share one of my other big passions and that is paintball. I have been playing for over 2 years now for Dublin based team Wildfire and have traveled around Europe playing in tournaments. Speedball is played mostly 5 a side and is closer to sports like ice hockey, football ect then a war. Players all wear team jerseys, no camo in this game! We play on standard size fields surrounded by thin netting so the games can be viewed by spectators. The sport has grown leaps and bounds in the last 10 years and is still biggest in the USA with almost 20 full pro teams and thousands of amature. Here is a pic of a field from a european tourney:

If you're still interested here is a nice HD vid of the pros playing the states which better shows the speed of the game:

If you are on facebook, would be great if you could give our team some support with a "like" :)

Very Proud Aunty Kelpie!

My lovely niece, Jo Pitt has been selected to compete in the British Paralympic Dressage Team in the World Equestrian Games at the end of September, in Kentucky!

As some of you know, (31) has hemiplegic cerebral palsy caused by brain damage at birth. When she was 6 months old, doctors said she would never walk and probably be unable to talk. She has no feeling and very little control over the entire right side of her body. This also affects her eyesight. Jo was always nuts about horses and my sister had her up on a pony before she was 2. The passion went from strength to strength.

Jo endured endless operations and 3 months in a wheel chair, in an effort to keep her right leg from contorting due to the muscle spasms she suffered. She has also broken her right arm several times as the bone is weak due to lack of use. Yet she drives her own car and with the devoted help of my sister, cares for and trains her 2 horses.

When Jo lost her much loved horse to laminitis, about 12 years ago, my sister asked me to find her something suitable and quickly as horses are Jo’s life and she was very down. The one that immediately sprang to mind was a very green 4 year old Irish horse who’s training I had only just started, but in spite of his babyness, I knew in my heart he was safe. He was shipped out to Jo in Scotland within a couple of weeks. It was on that horse, Diamond Bill, only a year later that Jo caught the eye of a Paralympic selector at a local able-bodied dressage competition.

Jo worked flipping hard and went on to compete as an individual at the Athens Paralympics in 2004 on a borrowed horse, getting good but not winning scores. In spite of winning the qualifying competition for the Beijing Paralympics in 2008, Jo was disappointed not to be selected because her new horse, Astralita, was deemed too young at only 6.

Astralita is still very young to be competing at international level, but Jo’s tremendous dedication and hard work has paid off and she’ll be flying out to Kentucky on the 29th to represent her country as a member of the most successful Paralympic Dressage Team in the world. Astralita will be part of the biggest airlift of horses (900) from around the globe, since WWII.

Many people assume that the horses these disabled riders compete on are old, or selected for their placid temperament etc. They’re not. These are some of the top dressage horses in the world and all are brought on with the help of top trainers, by the riders themselves. I am a qualified Ridden Hunter show judge and was a show jumping competitor for many years, but when Jo got on my horses, she could make them dance. Her abilities put mine to shame.

I’m sooooo proud!!! You go girl!!!

Jo & Astralita

I don’t have a video of Jo riding but for horse/dressage fans, here’s Jo’s team mate, Lee Pearson MBE, OBE, ranked World #1 putting his horse through his paces. Lee cannot walk unaided.

Loud Mechanical Clunk When Elec Starter Used Cold

User is offline

Hi, I just got my classic (1983) Honda CX500 and am enjoying it immensely. However, I have noticed that lately, there is often a loud mechanical knock when the electric start is pressed from cold. The bike still starts and runs fine, and doesn't repeat this when warmed up. Any thoughts? Thanks
